Laila Johnson-Salami is a Broadcast Journalist, an advocate for youth and womenâ€™s empowerment and the Co-Founder of theÂ We Rise Initiative. She is a Politics and International Relations Graduate from the University of Westminster, who spent a majority of her teen years working with governments and organizations on politics and sustainable development. Currently, Laila is based in Lagos, Nigeria, where as an independent content creator, runningÂ her company, LJS Productions, which is a digital media services and content creation agency.

She has previously worked at the House of Commons for MP Chris Williamson and as an Ambassador forÂ Girl Rising. She has also worked as a Journalist for Africa Rizing and as a TV Presenter for Spice TV. Currently, Laila isÂ a Correspondent for theÂ Commonwealth Youth Council, a Contributor with the Financial Times andÂ a Voice Over Artist with DDB Worldwide Communications. Furthermore, she co-hosts a YouTube show calledÂ On the Couch with Falz and LailaÂ and anchors a podcast with Midas Radio at Aristokrat Records, calledÂ The Broken Record Podcast.

As a host and a moderator, Laila is available to cover events and panel sessions within and beyond Nigeria. Previous jobs in 2018 include moderating the Conversation Cafe â€˜Day of the Girl 2018â€™ panel session at the United Nations Information Centre, hosting the Meet the Farmers Conference and hosting and moderating at the New Media, Citizens and Governance Conference.Â As a public speaker, Laila has also lent her voice to matters of both passion and concern, focused predominantly on young women and the youth.]]></content:encoded>
